About

I immigrated to the U.S. from Korea in my 20’s to expand my boundaries. Living as an immigrant, I have gone through my share of difficulties in adapting to the new culture and environment. Overcoming the language barrier was one of the most challenging struggles. My personal experiences combined with my professional background are great assets in providing my clients excellent coaching and consulting services.

I earned my Ph.D. in communication from Ohio State University, an MA in mass communication from Sogang University, and a BA in journalism from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea.  I have been providing cultural consulting since 2009 and have been teaching communications, including intercultural communication, interpersonal communication, and public speaking, in colleges and universities throughout Southern California.

I also have other communication-related career experience that brings a broad perspective in my coaching and consulting services: I have been working as a Korean-English interpreter in Southern California and have worked as a public relations specialist at the Korean Chamber of Commerce in New York City and as a journalist for two magazines ('여성자신' and '주부생활') in Seoul, Korea.

I enjoy hiking, learning languages, playing piano, traveling, and watching indie/foreign movies.  I speak English and Korean fluently and speak some Japanese and French.
